My Personal Experience

A few years ago, in 2020, I started having some very weird autoimmune-like symptoms. I was eating healthy, working out (I had recently lost 30 lbs!), and physically healthy (as far as we knew). Yet, randomly, I was freezing and having chills all of the time. My brain was all fuzzy, and I had trouble remembering things. I saw a cardiologist, hematologist, oncologist, rheumatologist, neurologist, psychiatrist (as some doctors could not figure out the problem and resulted to saying I was crazy), and many other types of providers. I had several labs covering different things. They ran labs for lupus, labs for Multiple Sclerosis and Myasthenia Gravis, and labs for cancer. They also ran labs for Lyme disease, alpha-gal syndrome, and Guillain-Barré syndrome. Bloodwork was done for every other weird, common or uncommon, possible illness they could think of to test me for.

Things got really scary while it took almost two years for my symptoms to subside on their own with vitamins, rest, and lots of patience. It was very hard to rest and practice patience as doctors scrambled to figure out what was wrong and without none of the test results leading us to confident answers. Instead, you can order your own labs. If the lab report shows any red flags, you can forward it to your doctor at that point. Consequently, you save time and money!

Also, you do not have to worry about your lack of medical knowledge! The lab reports will be delivered to your email, and they inform you if there are any red flags in the results that you need to discuss with your doctor.

However, being able to do some research and order my own labs gave me piece of mind while I was waiting. Plus, if I found anything at all out of the ordinary, I would send it to my primary care physician. She could use the information for future reference. She also used the information to determine if she needed to refer me to another specialist. Just like that, I got a referral without using their EXPENSIVE labs or waiting in their office for hours. No bill! It was so convenient.
